There is a customer every retailer knows and no brand talks to: the one whose skin gets worse when she moisturises. Small uniform bumps, forehead and chest, worse in summer, unmoved by every acne product on the shelf.

That is usually not acne. It is Malassezia folliculitis — a yeast that lives on everyone's skin and feeds on fatty acids, which happen to be what most moisturisers are made of.

latheorie is built around that one fact. The whole line is formulated at 0% fatty acid.

The claim is checkable, and it checks out

Anyone can print "for sensitive skin". This claim is different because it is falsifiable: you can read the ingredient list and see whether the fatty acids and their esters are actually gone.

They are. And you can see the cost of removing them in the substitutions the brand had to make — two of which are, as far as our catalogue goes, unique to this brand.

The cream uses phytosqualane where almost every other moisturiser reaches for a triglyceride or a plant butter. Squalane is a hydrocarbon, not a fatty acid, so the yeast cannot metabolise it. It is the only product in the 535 we carry that uses it.

The cleanser makes the same trade at the surfactant. Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate — again the only instance in our catalogue — instead of the soap-based or coconut-derived systems that dominate Korean gel cleansers, most of which carry fatty acid chains by construction.

That is what a formulation constraint looks like from the outside: not a marketing line, but a series of unusual ingredient choices that all point the same way.

The toner completes the routine — low irritation, low pH, hyaluronic acid and panthenol, and the same exclusion applied.

Compliance — read this matrix carefully

The certifications on file here are GMP and ISO 22716, and it is worth being precise about what they are: they certify how the factory operates, not that any product is registered anywhere. They are exactly what you want to see before you trust a supplier's consistency, and they do nothing for you at a border.

So if your order depends on an EU notification or a US listing, that is a separate question and a separate document. Ask us — for a dermatologist-developed line the underlying safety work usually exists and simply has not been filed with us yet.

Who this fits

Carry it if you have a channel where someone explains products: a pharmacy, a clinic, a skin-consultation counter, or an e-commerce operation that writes real copy. This line sells on a diagnosis, and it converts extremely well to the customer who has finally worked out why her skincare has been failing — that customer is loyal in a way trend buyers are not, because almost nobody else is making a routine she can safely use.

Skip it if your floor sells on texture and scent. Nothing here demos well; the whole proposition is what is absent, which is invisible on a tester. Skip it too if you need the full routine from day one — the brand's line runs to five products including an SPF50+ sunscreen, and the box carries three of them, so a complete "fungal-acne-safe routine" story needs the other two ordered separately.
