Perfume is the one thing in this box that none of the skincare rules cover

Ten eaux de parfum from K.NICHE — a different HS code, a different ingredient list, a different freight conversation. Everything a buyer knows about importing Korean skincare stops working here.

Every other brand in the Naru Box sells skincare, and by now a buyer sourcing Korean skincare knows the drill: HS 3304, a cosmetic notification, a carton on a pallet.

K.NICHE breaks all three. It files under HS 3303. Its ingredient list is mostly a legal declaration rather than a formula. And it is alcohol in glass, which is a freight conversation before it is a product conversation.

None of that makes it harder to sell. It makes it a different order, and the brands that get returned to the supplier are usually the ones a buyer treated as the same order.

The brand

K.NICHE — the fragrance house behind the KANAIS listing — is a Korean niche perfumery that states its range runs past 30 fragrances, all produced domestically. Ten are in the box, all eau de parfum at 100ml.

Domestic production is the part worth pausing on. Plenty of "Korean" fragrance is juice bought in Grasse and bottled in Incheon, which is fine but changes what you are buying: you are buying the bottle and the story, not the perfumery. A house that composes and fills in Korea is offering something a French-composed line cannot — and it is also the reason the price sits where it does.

The ingredient list is not a formula

Read a K.NICHE INCI and you will find the same five entries at the top of every one: alcohol, fragrance, water, a solubiliser and an antioxidant. Everything after that is allergen declaration.

That is how fragrance labelling works. The composition itself hides behind the single word Fragrance, protected as a trade secret, and the only substances named individually are the ones regulators require. So when one K.NICHE lists eight named substances and another lists seventeen, that is not a measure of how complex the perfume is. It is a measure of how many declarable allergens it contains — and for a buyer, that is the number that matters.

The deadline that just passed

This is the one thing to settle before a European order. Under Regulation (EU) 2023/1545, the list of fragrance allergens that must be declared individually grew from 26 substances to 82. Products first placed on the EU market from 31 July 2026 must already comply; products that were on the market before then have until 31 July 2028.

The allergens named on the ingredient lists we hold are all from the original 26. That is entirely normal for a range built before the change, and it is not a defect — but a fragrance entering the EU today is a new placing on the market, and it needs the 82-substance assessment behind it. Ask us for the current allergen statement and the safety assessment date before you commit. This is a paperwork step, not a reformulation, and a house with 30 fragrances has almost certainly done it once for the whole range.

What actually ships

Each bottle is 100ml of alcohol-based liquid in glass, and the packed weight on file is 400g — four times the juice. Both facts drive the freight.

Alcoholic perfume is treated as a flammable liquid in transport, which is why fragrance moves under different rules from a cream and why some carriers and postal routes will not take it by air at all. If you are ordering fragrance and skincare together, assume they may not travel in the same box, and ask us to confirm the route to your market before you plan the delivery date.

Compliance

Certifications — KANAIS
Certification documents for this brand are shared on request — ask us and we will collect them from the brand before you order.

Who this fits

Carry it if you sell fragrance to people who already buy fragrance — a perfumery counter, a concept store, a duty-free or gifting channel, or a market where "Korean niche perfume" is a novel enough sentence to earn a shelf talker. Fragrance is thin on the ground in Korean export catalogues: 18 of the 535 products we carry, and eleven of those are this brand. Whoever takes it early owns the category in their market rather than competing inside it.

Skip it if you were planning to slot it beside the skincare. The freight is different, the paperwork is different, and the sampling is different — nobody buys a scent they have not smelled, and a 100ml glass bottle is an expensive way to let them. If you are serious about this line, the conversation to have with us is about a discovery set, not about which three of the ten to try.

And check the assortment before you fall for the range. Of the ten in the box, nine sit in floral territory — sweet, fresh, fruity, woody-floral, floral-oriental — with a single straight oriental to balance them. That is a coherent house signature, not a full wardrobe. If your customers want a gourmand or a proper woody-aromatic for men, ask what else exists in the other twenty before you assume the range covers it.
